Blackle – Google’s Green Face.

Go Green – Earth Friendly! This is the motto of the website Blackle. Powered by “Google Custom Search” Blackle aims to save energy by displaying google’s start page with a black background and using white font color for search results. According to particular studies computer monitors consume less energy by displaying much darker colors. On the Blackle’s website there is a field indicating how much energy has been already saved.

The 20Q A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) can read your mind.

I came recently across this curious web site – 20q.net. In less than 20 questions this virtual monster can guess any thing you think of! I tried the word “ameba” and indeed, after the 8-th question “ameba” was displayed on the monitor! Try it out!

In the USA alibi-agencies exist already for a long time. In Europe they are quite new. Kleinezeitung reports about two online alibi agencies a french one alibila.com and a swiss one alibi-beton.com. Spock – the First People Search Engine.

On the way to the work I heard today on radio a report about the first search engine enabling people search. This unic (at least it was stated so) service is called Spock. About 8 Mio. $ were invested in the development. The search critera can be a name of the person, his age or an e-mail. (more…)

KWICK! Discovers New Perspectives.

KWICK! Community is one of the German social networks. The users are mostly teenagers from the south region of Germany. Compared to other social networks KWICK! has “only” 900 000 registered members and thus is in no way a concurrence to such large projects as studiVZ or lokalisten. My attention was attracted by a news posting at zweinull.cc that this is the first social network that decided to extend its service by using at mobile phones. (more…)
