The echo of GeoMobile‘s success at the last IT-fair Nav4Blind in Soest has been reflected today at heise online! Heise is one of the most popular German computer magazines… As the result our phone is calling continiously all the day! Heise has also published a link to GeoMobile homepage. Yesterday yet we had only the contact information on our page and a terrible design. We are eager now to fill the website with some content and to tinker some kind of acceptable design!

GeoMobile at Nav4Blind.

After a long break it’s getting time to post a couple of lines in my blog. In recent months there happened really much in the life of our startup initiative and my “student” career as well. Unfortunately, because of lack of time I could not report about all the events, but will try to summarize the most interesting of them in the next posts.

The most vivid event occured last Tuesday. GeoMobile has exibited its first project at the IT-fair, Nav4Blind, in the town of Soest dedicated to ideas and products supporting blind people in their every day life. We implemented a prototype of a navigation system, which guides a blind person in a safe corridor and provides the person with touristic informations. We realized this project in cooperation with the University of Münster, which supported us with the Ubisense location system. Ubisense is based on Ultra-Wide Band technology and provides an indoor location precision of about 50 cm. The current coordinates are saved 10 times per second at the server and our mobile application could request it via wlan.

Start2Grow. GeoMobile was awarded again!

Yesterday our company has won again a money prize at the Start2Grow idea competition. We were very happy and proud. This meant very much for us, that our idea had got a recognition and positive feedback from jury.

Just a couple of words to the idea competitions in Germany. Everybody, who has an excellent business idea and is going to start up his own compony can take part at various idea competitions. The money awards are sponsored by European Union or by German State. Depending on the competition requirements, one needs to compose a kind of business plan and that’s it. Besides that, the organizer of these idea competitions hold coaching evenings, where you can ask specific questions to startup creation and of course to enjoy the free dinner

It’s been really a while since I’ve last posted something to my blog. In all this time many things occured. After almost 4 years of my activity at the research institute of Fraunhofer (ISST in Dortmund), I changed the place of my work. Now I am at GeoMobile, a very young compony which is only 1 week old Our compony counts three men. I say “our” because we are partners and participators. What shall we do? The things, that we can best of all: development of navigation systems, digital assistants for museums, tour guides for cities, research at the field of navigation systems for pedestrians, blind people and much more.

Last week we moved in our new office, which is located in “Technologiezentrum” in Dortmund. We acquired already a printer, furniture and even two flowers. So all the conditions for productive work are created. I very much hope, that our ideas will find the recognition and that the success will accompany us.
