KWICK! Discovers New Perspectives.
KWICK! Community is one of the German social networks. The users are mostly teenagers from the south region of Germany. Compared to other social networks KWICK! has “only” 900 000 registered members and thus is in no way a concurrence to such large projects as studiVZ or lokalisten. My attention was attracted by a news posting at zweinull.cc that this is the first social network that decided to extend its service by using at mobile phones. In cooperation with German mobile phone provider O2 a web client for mobile phones was developed. The registered members of KWICK! can be constantly in contact absolutely for free (no additional charges for using internet) with three of their friends. For 2 Euros per months one can get the access to the whole network.
This curious step is surely profitable for both sides. KWICK! will attract more users and for the mobile phone provider its a good advertisment. The young people use very often sms service and this is a quite expensive pleasure. At least compared to the prices that KWICK! offers for the new service. The question is which social network will next follow this interesting way.
Hi, thanks for the link. I just wanted to mention that lokalisten has about 1.000.000 users, so it is not that far ahead of KWICK!. My comparision was more more based on the fact that lokalisten and studiVZ have more urban and maybe even more lifestyle-oriented users whereas KWICK! is rather a community for average educated teenagers in southern Germany.
